The Essential Phone

Andy Rubin, the co-founder of android has unveiled the first smartphone made by his company, Essential. The phone has finally hit the spotlight and is gathering everyones attention. Its a phone that is beautifully crafted and designed perfectly. The Phone hit the market in Aug, 2017 with the price tag of 699$ US and in India about 29990 INR. The phone is available in multiple color variants - Stellar Gray, Ocean Depths, Black Moon and Pure White .

The phone is very strong and rigid with the titanium on the sides, ceramic on the back and  Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front. There is no 3.5mm headphone Jack but USB adapter is provided to use headphones. USB-C  is present on the downside along with speaker grill. On the back there is the dual camera setup with dual tone flash and laser sensor along with two pogo pin connectors. One thing to duly note is that phone supports only single sim.

The phone features a jaw-dropping full bezel less display leaving samsung behind. Although there is some bezel on the downside but after looking to the 5.71" display of 2k resolution with 500 nits of brightness, the bezel goes unnoticed. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is also a  front camera notch on the top of the screen which is also surrounded by the screen which looks kinda cool.

Under the hood the phone packs Snapdragons's Flagship 835 processor and Adreno 540 GPU with 4 gigs of Ram and 128 gb of non expandable storage . With the powerful SD 835 and Adreno 540 there will be no issues of lag in performance and in Gaming.

The battery is 3040 mAh which according to me is little less but comes with USB-C charging port with the support of Quick charge 3.0 and 4.0.So not a big deal.
In the photography section, the phones features dual camera setup of 13 MP +13 MP cameras with a sensor dedicated to monochrome imaging. It can be used standalone for black and white photos, or combined with the color sensor for improved detail and low-light performance. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, is an 8-megapixel shooter capable of shooting 4K video..Essential will ship a 360-degree camera that can click in to the top of the phone, and the company will also offer a charging dock. Both connect to the phone with small metal pogo pins. So you can also capture 360 images and videos with this phone. But you have to separately buy the 360 camera and the Charging dock as it is not part of the phone package..

The phone comes with Android Nougat out of the box. The phone is said to be working on Ambient OS. The phone supports  NFC, OTG, etc and has all the usual sensors like Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer (But no temperature sensor ).
