Alongside with the launch of the 8th gen coffee-lake processors, intel had also launched the new chipset for motherboards to support the new 8th gen processors - the Z370 chipset.
Unlike the last generation the new 8th gen processors are not compatible with older chipsets and therefore 300 series chipset is must. The Z370 chipset like its predecessors supports overclocking as well as comes with the XMP support to overclock even the RAM to get most of the performance out of your hardware when using the coffee-lake (K variants only as overclocking is only supported on those). But all the features offered by Z370 come with a price which is not fair for all and for the budget-building there was no information given by intel for its budget end motherboard chipsets (for enthusiasts and gamers who want just standard performance without tweaking with the settings) like it did with previous generation processors. In the mean time AMD launched its budget oriented APUs with the same socket AM4 Compatibility. Thus making it to pair with the B350 & B320 motherboard chipsets (in addition to x370 chipset which is the AMD counterpart of Intel's Z370) which it previously launched for its budget-end Ryzen systems.
But with recent leaks intel is also planning to launch budget end motherboard chipsets in the 2nd quarter of 2018 - B360, B310 & H370. These chip will help budget builders who prefer to use Intel or are planning to upgrade to 8th gen on budget without having to spend a whole lot on motherboard considering the overpriced RAM and GPU market. For example if a person likes to minor overclocking he can save a few bucks by buying B360 (supports minor overclock) instead of spending more money on Z370. The saved money can then be used to buy other components like Graphics card, processor, or even a better PSU(80+ rated) and, hence providing better performance.
